So, how does your bracket look? Chances are, if you went with most of the higher seeds, you're in pretty good shape. I'm currently in second place (two points back) in my New York Times bracket, which I considered to be the best of the four or five brackets I filled out. You can see the bracket on my last post.

I correctly picked 12 of the Sweet 16 teams, missing on Arizona, Kansas, Missouri and Gonzaga. I instead had Wake Forest, West Virginia, Marquette and Western Kentucky. I'm not as devastated, however, because all of my Elite 8 teams are still alive. I'm pretty confident Louisville and Michigan State will advance to the Midwest finals. I have Purdue topping UConn to face Memphis in the West finals. The Huskies are been the most dominant team in the tournament so far, so I'll admit to being a little worried about that pick, though I still like Purdue and their Big 10 defense.

I still love the Pittsburgh-Villanova final in the East. Pitt hasn't looked impressive but they'll beat Xavier. Villanova has been my darkhorse from the beginning, and I fully expect them to beat Duke. And I also really like North Carolina-Syracuse in the South. Oklahoma should give Syracuse a good run, but I like the Orange to win that. So, overall, I'm very confident in seven of my eight picks, the only toss-up being UConn vs. Purdue.

Overall I've found the tournament to be great though. I keep reading columns and blogs saying this year is boring or a "down year" because all of the favorites are left. But to me, I see nothing wrong with that. In fact, I think it's great. These last 15 games of the college basketball season should be some of the best games of the season. I understand people love to see underdogs and cinderellas. But I don't think the tournament needs a few of them every year to be entertaining. I'd rather see the best players and the best teams playing for the title.

More thoughts on the NCAA tournament to come soon. Also, look for another mock draft, NBA and NHL playoff stuff. Oh yea, and baseball. What a great time of year.
