Man it has been a rough week. My Blue Jays have lost nine games in a row and given the division back to the two evil empires. At least the Mets are playing ok. OH wait, is it still hockey season. I could not care less about seeing these two teams play in the Stanley Cup finals again. Well all I have left to care about is keeping the cup out of the hands of that over rated crybaby who is against throwing hats on the ice after a hat trick. I think we all know who I mean (Cindy Crosby).
Well the Eastern Conference Finals were a blow out. The Pens not only swept but pretty much dominated after game 1. The offense exploded and pretty much kept the pressure off of Fleury in goal. There is not much more to be said here. The Pens came ready to play, the Canes did not.
In the West Detroit was able to knock off Chicago in 5. This series was a little bit closer than it looked on paper with three of the five games going to OT. Had Chicago been able to pull it out in OT of game 5 they really could have made a series out of it but Detroit quickly ended those hopes for Chicago fans in the first overtime.
So Detroit and Pittsburgh will once again meet in the finals (with Detroit having home ice for a better regular season record). This could actually be a good series although I hate both teams (have I said that already?). I think most have to consider Detroit the favorite. They did beat Pittsburgh last year and acquire Marian Hossa from them. But I think Pittsburgh is playing much better hockey than they were last year at this time. Detroit (although very good) I think has shown that they are beatable having the Ducks given them such a hard fought series and Chicago played them tough for a good part of the series as well. With the exception of games 1 and 2 against Washington Pittsburgh has just been dominant and has bounced back well from losses through this post season.
In the conference finals you may remember my official picks were different from who I personally wanted to win. Well I am going to do it again. Let me preface this with I hate Cindy Crosby and hope he retires without a single ring leaving everybody saying "all that hype and he could never get it done, his true talent was whining and complaining all the time" but Pittsburgh in 6! Enjoy the finals and Pens fans don't take my rants personally, I just can't stand Crosby. I am a big fan of Malkin and look forward to him signing with the Rangers in the years to come. Until next time hockey fans.
