I know this one is a little late, but Phil Mickelson was on Entourage two episodes ago. While, other than the first episode, this season has been pretty average so far, the highlight of this season has to be Phil Lefty McMickelson playing a round of Golf with Ari Gold, Mr. Let's Hug it Out…..Bitch.
The gist of the episode is as follows: Ari challenges a movie executive by the name of Allen Grey to a game of golf with hopes of winning a spot for Vince in an upcoming movie Smoke Jumpers. Mickelson is brought in to be a ringer. Entourage villain Alan is trying to rub it in a little more that he has successfully killed the career of Vincent Chase.
Mickelson has one awesome quote at in the episode. At the beginning of the game, he states to Ari, " Is this whose ass we're going to kick today?" Ari then shakes in his boots and then everyone tees off.
Over the rest of the episode there is banter between Ari and Mickelson. Finally, on the 18th hole, Ari, facing a must make chip on 18 to save Vince's career, asks Phil if he has any advice. " Pray," Mickelson replies. Is that all, " Pray?" He could not have come up with something slightly wittier, like " Don't choke like I do every time I go against Tiger." Sorry, had to throw that in. Love Phil - but he is a choker.
Then in a twist Allen dies. Heart attack. While this might have been a good way solve the problem for Vinny Chase, it seemed a bit morbid for me.
What did I think of Phil's performance? Average. He smiled a lot and had a few good one liners. Got me thinking, sports and Entourage go hand in hand - from going to Lakers games with Ari to watch Lebron James, to Turtle and infatuation NY sports teams gear.
My favorite scene from the whole history of the show is in season one when Turtle has just brought home the new dog, Arnold, who might I say was incredibly scary. The whole crew is scared of him. In order to break him in, Turtle dresses up like a hockey goalie for the NY Rangers and the dog is released. Only the rest of the guys are hooting and hollering from a distant balcony while Turtle faces the dog alone. Arnold proceeds to tear down the yard and tackle Turtle. I laugh so hard every time I see this and I am sure Entourage fans do as well. I think turtle is the best goalie the Rangers have had in the last ten years. They should sign him. Sort of reminds me of the Goad from the Mighty Ducks.
So this brings me to my last point: Entourage would be nothing without sports. In my opinion, it makes the show. I mean the hot girls and fly rides help, but sports take it to another level and they should do more outings to games. Drop me a comment to let me know what your favorite Entourage moment is. Could it be the Mickelson moment or could it be Vince's Almost Famous Moment on top of the house at the high schoolers' party, following which he gives away my favorite car ever, the Maserati Quattroporte.
I just pray that this show does not get canceled because it makes my Sunday nights so enjoyable.
