Another season has begun and so far I must say I have been surprised by a few things. The surprises didn't take long, the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Detroit Red Wings in Detroit in those teams first games. Don't get your hopes up Toronto, I don't see the Leafs making the post season, but what that game along with letting the Rangers come back to force overtime last Saturday did show is that Detroit may not be as invincible as some think. Goaltending is shaky!
Aside from that I have been surprised by the underachievement thus far of the Ducks and Flyers. These were two teams many picked to have a great season but so far nothing. I know its early, but every point counts and those teams have not been packing them away in the first month. Speaking of underachieving did Kippur really win the best goaltender award just a few seasons ago? What is going on in Calgary?
The New York Rangers right now are the best not good team i've ever seen. 6-2-1 as a Ranger fan i'll take it but HELLO top line are you gonna play? The early season success has come from good goaltending and a good start for the second line, need more contributions from the rest of the team.
As for successful surprises I did not expect to be throwing the Blues and Sabres names around come playoff time, but these teams have gotten off to furious starts. Can they keep it up..... only time will tell.
And for everything there is always a constant: the Devils are boring and nobody goes to their games!
Talk soon hockey fans....... keep the posts and discussions coming in!
Since you're a Rangers fan, who do you think is the best young player on that team?
No Pens reference? Is the 8 year bet still on?
The Flyers scored 6 goals tonight and ....LOST! Wow. The draught continues.
