Topic: How important is rest for weight trainning?

Hi i was reading the other day about resting and recovering after intense weight training because when you do weight training the whole aim of the game is to break your muscles so then they can recover and grow bigger. So i guess recovery is needed to help your muscles grow other wise they will never have a chance to and muscles will never get bigger? Is this true? How long do you have rest for? or have i got the wrong end of the stick? Thanks

A couple days to let your muscles recover, you can always exercise other muscles groups with different exercise whilst they recover too.

Id say rest is super important as if your muscles are always doing exercise they never recover and thus you dont build strength to increase weight and your always doing the same weights then and never improving.

Rest is important but training you other muscles by alternating your workouts is even more important in my view. Just doing one type of exercise means your muscles get used to it.
